Why Do I Feel Resentful Even When I Said Yes?
Resentment often gets treated as a communication problem, something to fix with better scripts or clearer asks. This post makes the case that resentment is actually pointing to an unmet need, usually one with a much longer history than the single moment that seemed to trigger it, often tied to an unspoken exchange (I'll cross my own boundary for you if you'll eventually cross yours for me), and protecting shame an exiled part has carried for years about whether that need was ever allowed to be real.
