Perhaps you have had an experience where you know something rationally but feel a disconnect between your mind and your body. Our nervous systems can get stuck in survival mode and in patterns of coping that no longer serve us after experiencing chronic stress or trauma. Through somatic EMDR, I use a mind-body approach that can help you get unstuck, creating a bridge between experiences from the past and values-aligned actions in the present.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a specialized, evidence-based therapy that helps metabolize unprocessed emotions and incomplete stress responses that can occur with trauma. The primary mechanism is bilateral stimulation, which in practice looks like incorporating movements that gently engage the right and left sides of your brain while reprocessing difficult memories. Many clients find this process more approachable than they expected.
EMDR can be effective for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, OCD, phobias, and painful relational patterns that keep showing up. I hold certifications in both Integrative Somatic Trauma and Somatic EMDR through the Embody Lab, meaning the EMDR work we do together is grounded in the body, not just the mind.
